亭亭山上松,瑟瑟谷中风。
风声一何盛,松枝一何劲!
冰霜正惨凄,终岁常端正。
岂不罹凝寒?松柏有本性。

刘桢(?―217年),字公干,东平宁阳(今山东宁阳县)人。
东汉末年名士、诗人,“建安七子”之一, 如今存诗十五首,风格遒劲,语言质朴。
LIU Zhen (?-271), styled Business, a native of Ningyang, Dongping (present-day Ningyang County, Shandong Province). As a celebrated scholar and poet at the end of the Eastern Han dynasty (25-220) , he was one of the “Seven Great Litterateurs During the Jian’an Period (196-220)”. Liu has 15 posthumous poems with simple language in vigorous style.(韩上上译)

On the high mountain tower pine trees;
In the valley blows a cool breeze.
Now how the wind swells up and soughs!
How the pines hold up their strong boughs!
The ice and frost piercingly bite;
Year in year out they stand all right.
Don’t they suffer much from the cold?
Rectitude’s their nature, their mould.
